Eileen M Miller, RN is an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa who is a nurse with Red Lake Comprehensive Health Services on the Red Lake Indian Reservation. She has worked there since 1996. Diabetes education and community health nursing are her areas of practice. With a passion for diabetes education. Education can make all the difference in how a person sees their diabetes journey.
She will be graduating from Bemidji State University with my bachelor’s degree this summer. 30 years after becoming an associate degree nurse from Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
Eileen serves on two community resource councils for Red Lake, working with Johns Hopkins, Center for Indigenous Health. On a project that is investigating a home based diabetes education for caregivers with diabetes and a youth ages 11-16. The other is working with researchers from the University of Minnesota – Duluth, Memory Keepers. They are adapting tools for dementia screening to be used in indigenous communities.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hunting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
