Katerina S. Kucera Bio

Katerina (Kate) S. Kucera is geneticist and a clinical and research laboratory director. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of North Florida, PhD in Genetics and Genomics from Duke University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Max Planck Institute of Psycholinguistics. She is certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis as a High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director in Molecular Diagnostics. Her experience is in genetics, genomics, epigenetics, and newborn screening. She has worked in academia, biotech industry, and the non-profit research space and overseen research and clinical laboratory activities, most recently as the director of the RTI International Early Check Laboratory. She has worked with researchers, physicians, public health professionals, and commercial partners to translate research findings to clinical practice and advance the development and utilization of novel screening and diagnostic tools.
