Presented by the University of Minnesota Department of Surgery, this course is designed to highlight new technological advances in the diagnosis and treatment of Cardiopulmonary Thromboembolic Disease.

Each year we assemble a program of noted clinical experts and key industry professionals to discuss a selected medical device and/or therapy. This annual symposium highlights critical information about cutting-edge medical devices and therapies that surgeons and health care professionals need to stay up to date in their specialty.


This course is ideal for Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Vascular Surgeons, Radiologists, Surgical Residents and Fellows, Physician Assistants, other health professionals, as well as medical device developers, interested in increasing their knowledge of cardiac devices and the innovation process from theory to approved clinical device. 

1. Describe the variety of treatments and interventions available for patients with pulmonary embolism.
2. Identify best practices in medical therapies for patients with pulmonary hypertension.
3. Discuss the risk factors for pulmonary embolism in patients with COVID.
4. Evaluate and determine the optimal care plan for patients with COVID who have an increased risk of pulmonary embolism.
5. Explain new technologies available to treat chronic thromboembolic disease.
6. Identify patients who will benefit from innovative interventions for the treatment of acute pulmonary embolism.

We continue to monitor the situation with the delta variant closely. We will follow Minnesota Department of Health and University guidelines around in-person events. Note that those opting for in person attendance may have to pivot to attending via the live webinar. If this situation arises, those impacted will be notified via email and a refund reflecting the difference in price between in-person and virtual registration will be issued.

If you would like to change your registration from in-person to virtual, we request that you do so no later than Thursday, November 4th.

 

On-site registration: If you register on-site, you must register online with your computer or mobile device and pay by credit card. Phone-in registration with credit card payment will be accepted

The University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other healthcare professionals who participate in this CE activity may submit their certificate of participation to their appropriate accrediting organizations or state boards for consideration of credit. The participant is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your registration, the registration fee, less a $50 administrative fee, will be refunded if we receive a two-week notice prior to the activity. No refunds will be made after that.

In the event the activity is cancelled, registration fees will be refunded. UMN OCPD and/or our partner in providing the activity is not responsible for any travel-related costs, charges, or expenses, including but not limited to fees assessed by airline, travel, or lodging agencies.
