Overview

Format: Self-paced online

This activity is planned and hosted by the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics.

Course Description: As a part of the Pediatric Grand Rounds Series, Dr. Knutson discusses the diagnosis and management of MIS-C, including acute and long-term cardiac effects, while also reviewing cardiac risks of acute COVID-19 infection, return to sport recommendations, and reviewing vaccine-associated myocarditis. 

Course Structure: The steps to complete this course and receive a Certificate of Participation are:
1. Register for the course.
2. Access and view the course content by clicking on the Access Course button above and Launch Video button which will appear after you have registered.
3. Complete the attestation and the required test under My CE > Tests in your CE Portal account.
4. Complete the course evaluation under My CE > Evaluations & Certificates in your CE Portal account. Your Certificate of Participation will become available in the same area after you have completed the evaluation. It will also be emailed to you. NOTE: Any reference in the course to texting attendance does not apply to this online course version.

Physicians eligible for ABP MOC II points must also complete Step 5 below to be included in the MOC completion report to ACCME and ABP:

5. Click the “Claim MOC” button next to “Download Certificate” under My CE > Evaluations & Certificates. When prompted, provide your birth day/month and ABP ID number.Your MOC credits will be reported to ACCME and ABP within one month.

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Discuss the diagnosis and management of MIS-C, including acute and potential long-term cardiac effects.
  2. Describe the cardiac risks of acute COVID-19 infection and return to sports recommendations.
  3. Discuss vaccine-associated myocarditis, including presentation and management.

American Board of Pediatrics Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part II
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 1.0 MOC point in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

Note that learners seeking ABP MOC Part II must successfully complete the MOC test in CE Portal to be eligible for ABP MOC Points. Participant data will be reported to ACCME and ABP on a monthly basis.
