Overview

This course is planned and hosted by Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. For more information contact [email protected]. 

There are now over 16 million cancer survivors. Many of these survivors go on to have multiple needs and ongoing chronic diseases, higher than the general population. Understanding potential toxicities related to chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy is essential in providing comprehensive care for all stages of survivorship. During this course you will hear from clinicians and researchers on the ongoing chronic conditions of cancer survivors, areas of research, as well as ways to improve clinical care. This course will address the entire spectrum of cancer survivorship care: monitoring and management of the late and long term effects ranging from cardiotoxicity to cognitive changes, screening for other malignancies, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. The course will also highlight areas of current research and areas in need.

Course Structure This course consists of ten video modules, a completion attestation, and evaluation. The steps to complete the course and receive credit are:

  4. Complete the course attestation.
  5. Complete the course evaluation and access your Certificate of Participation through My CE in your CE Portal account. Your Certificate of Participation will also be emailed to you.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of treatment-related toxicities for the most common cancers.
  2. Discuss gaps in knowledge in cancer survivorship, specifically as it relates to accelerated aging, obesity, and chronic diseases.
  3. Develop strategies to further the research and priorities in cancer survivorship.
