The 2023 MAGIC annual conference will address aging and health across professions with a focus on organ systems above the neck, including brain disease, hearing, swallowing and speech, oral care and vision and below the knees (e.g. foot care). Presentations and discussions will also address public policy and long-term care organization’s approaches to promoting access and quality of care for older Minnesotans.

1. Describe best practice approaches to address brain disorders among older people.
2. Collaborate effectively across professions to address problems above the knees such as mental health, hearing, communication, swallowing, oral health, foot care and vision problems among older people.
3. Lead efforts to respond to changes in public policy related to care of older people.
4. Describe proven approaches to improving quality of care for older people.

Walk-in registration is NOT available for the Friday, November 3 session.

Special needs, such as dietary restrictions, lactation room, etc., should be requested in advance. These requests cannot always be honored on site.

Cancellation Policy
In the event you need to cancel your registration, the registration fee, less a $25 administrative fee, will be refunded if you notify us by 4:30 p.m. Central Time two weeks prior to the start of the conference. No refunds will be made after this date.

UMN Office of Continuing Professional Development (OCPD) and/or our partner in providing the activity reserves the right to cancel any activity due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event the activity is cancelled, registration fees will be refunded. UMN OCPD and/or our partner in providing the activity is not responsible for any travel-related costs, charges, or expenses, including but not limited to fees assessed by airline, travel, or lodging agencies.

Credit Designation Statements

American Medical Association
The University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
This activity is awarded up to 8.75 ANCC contact hours.

American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA)
University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 8.75 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (ABPLM)
This CME activity has been pre-approved by the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (ABPLM) for a total of 9.5 management hours and 3.25 clinical hours toward certification as a Certified Medical Director (CMD) in post-acute and long-term care medicine. The CMD program is administered by the ABPLM.  Each physician should claim only those hours of credit actually spent on the activity. 

Minnesota Board of Executives for Long-Term Services and Supports 
This program is certified for up to 8.75 hours for LNHA, LALD, and/or HSE continuing education through the Board of Executives for Long Term Services and Supports.

Other Healthcare Professionals
Other healthcare professionals who participate in this CE activity may submit their statement of participation to their appropriate accrediting organizations or state boards for consideration of credit. The participant is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.

Friday, November 3, 2023 is offered as an in-person event being held at Midland Hills Country Club, 2001 Fulham Street, Roseville, MN 55113.
