This course is planned and hosted by the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics, Adoption Medicine Clinic. Contact Emily Kukacka for additional information. 

The 2023 Adoption Medicine Clinic Symposium is a one-day hybrid conference for social workers, physicians, therapists, psychologists, foster parents and parents of adopted children. Attendees will learn about the services provided through the Adoption Medicine Clinic, the positive impact that multidisciplinary medical care has on children that have been adopted or placed into foster care, and the benefits of early intervention across each of our team members’ specialized disciplines. 


Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Explain benefits of comprehensive, multidisciplinary medical care for children that have been adopted or placed into foster care
  2. Identify how to navigate healthcare systems as they relate to children that have been adopted or placed into foster care
  3. Identify early intervention practices for supporting the physical, mental and developmental health of children who have been impacted by trauma across a number of subspecialty care disciplines
