Overview

This Grand Rounds is a series of presentations on current developments in Internal Medicine focused on best practices in diagnosis and management of common and uncommon medical conditions encountered in clinical practice. Lectures are provided by faculty and visiting experts.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Summarize updates in diagnosis, treatment and research for various medical conditions.
  2. Compare diagnostic and treatment options with team members.
  3. Discuss appropriate strategies to address patient or team-based issues.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

 

Credit Designation Statements

American Medical Association (AMA)
The University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification Part II (ABIM MOC Part 2)
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

To be eligible for ABIM MOC Part 2 points, learners must be an ABIM Diplomate, provide their ABIM Diplomate ID and date of birth in their CE Portal account profile and complete the assessment for each session.  Note that learners seeking ABIM MOC Part II must text their attendance or claim credit online and then complete the test in CE Portal within 24 hours of the end of the session to be eligible for ABIM MOC Points. OCPD will upload participant data on a monthly basis. 

In the event that an individual session is not offering an opportunity to test and earn ABIM MOC Part II, it will be announced prior to the start of the session.

Other Healthcare Professionals
Other healthcare professionals who participate in this CE activity may submit their statement of participation to their appropriate accrediting organizations or state boards for consideration of credit. The participant is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
