Overview

The Athletic Medicine Conference is a regularly scheduled monthly educational series designed to provide physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other sports medicine professionals with current, evidence-based knowledge related to athletic health and performance. Sessions feature expert presenters covering topics such as injury prevention, sports-related diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation, concussion management, return-to-play decisions, and performance optimization.

The series aims to enhance clinical competence, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and improve outcomes for athletes and active individuals through case-based learning, discussion, and review of current literature and best practices.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify common diseases processes that athletes encounter
  2. Implement preventative measures to improve health and well-being
  3. Treat common athletic injuries

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

 

Credit Designation Statements

American Medical Association (AMA)
The University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) Accredited CME for MOC
Successful completion of this CME activity, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Maintenance of Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABOS credit.

In the event that an individual session is not offering an opportunity to earn ABOS Accredited CME, it will be announced prior to the start of the session.

Athletic Trainers
The University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education (BOC AP#: JA0000810) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program is eligible for a maximum of 1.0 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the education program.

Other Healthcare Professionals
Other healthcare professionals who participate in this CE activity may submit their statement of participation to their appropriate accrediting organizations or state boards for consideration of credit. The participant is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
