This Department of Anesthesiology Grand Rounds is held for faculty, residents, fellows, and CRNAs to bring new knowledge of their daily work. The Department of Anesthesiology M&M (Morbidity and Mortality) Conference features complications submitted and presented by residents involved in those cases. Cases are submitted to a secure database each week and are reviewed and selected for presentation by the faculty moderator. Residents focus their presentations on what happened to cause the complication and what could be done to prevent the complication for future cases and cite scholarly works to further back up their presentations.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify areas rapidly changing in medical practice and utilize the most up-to-date changes in professional guidelines for practice.
  2. More effectively communicate in an interdisciplinary setting by better understanding the work of colleagues in the operating room.
  3. Identify potential problem cases in the OR and develop a plan for management of those cases.

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
