Minnesota Association of Geriatrics Inspired Clinicians (MAGIC) Annual Conference 2025: Navigating Mental & Behavioral Health in Older Adults

The MAGIC conference annually convenes clinicians in geriatrics to explore a wide range of topic including: Alzheimer's disease/dementia, THC/CBD, deprescribing, antipsychotic use, BEERS criteria, STOPP/START criteria, managing anxiety, delirium, behaviors (both pharmacological and non-pharmacological), MN Medication Repository Program, and other topics related to pharmacological interventions. In 2025 we will specifically focus on behavioral and mental health.

This course is planned and organized by the Minnesota Association of Geriatric Inspired Clinicians (MAGIC). For more information contact [email protected] or visit the MAGIC website.

1. Describe how to apply appropriate evaluation tools and criteria to diagnose depression, anxiety and substance use disorders in older adults
2. Review patient-centered plans to address conditions for older adults accounting for multimorbidity, frailty, and cognitive concerns
3. Outline how to address challenges that may be faced in various settings such as home care, ALF, or skilled nursing facility (including regulatory requirements in the SNF setting).
4. Describe interdisciplinary team care approaches to develop and implement treatments plan for older adults with mental health concerns

• Pre-registration is requested by October 23, 2025.

• Thursday is offered as a live webinar only. Friday is offered as an in-person event only. 

• Day of registration will be allowed only as space permits. All on-site registrants must use their own device to submit their registration and payment by credit card via CE Portal (cash/check not accepted). Registration through CE Portal is required even if attendance is free-of-charge.

• Special needs, such as dietary restrictions, lactation room, etc., should be requested in advance. These requests cannot always be honored on site.

• There may be onsite photography at this event.

• Cancellation Policy:  In the event you need to cancel your registration, the registration fee, less a $25 administrative fee, will be refunded if you notify us by 4:30 p.m. Central Time October 21, 2025. No refunds will be made after this date.

• UMN Office of Continuing Professional Development (OCPD) and/or our partner in providing the activity reserves the right to cancel any activity due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event the activity is cancelled, registration fees will be refunded. UMN OCPD and/or our partner in providing the activity is not responsible for any travel-related costs, charges, or expenses, including but not limited to fees assessed by airline, travel, or lodging agencies.

The University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education designates this live activity  for a maximum of 8.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity is awarded up to 8.25 ANCC contact hours.

Minnesota Board of Executives for Long-Term Services and Supports 
This program is certified for up to 8.25 hours for LNHA, LALD, and/or HSE continuing education through the Board of Executives for Long Term Services and Supports.
