Overview

Join us at the North Star Endoscopy (NORSE) Course—a focused, high-energy update on the advanced endoscopy you do every week and the skills you’ll need for the cases that walk in tomorrow. Led by recognized experts, the program zeroes in on what moves the needle now: endobariatric therapy with practical metabolic co-management; third space endoscopy; advanced in pancreatic and biliary disease; and EUS/ERCP strategies for altered anatomy and high-risk patients. Expect candid, device-agnostic teaching, case-based “how-I-do-it” walkthroughs, interactive small-group breakouts, and take-home checklists you can plug into your service on Monday. Come for the techniques—leave with playbooks, pearls, and a regional network committed to safer procedures and better outcomes.

NORSE 2026 will feature:

  • Cutting-edge live procedures and hands-on training

  • Interactive, case-based panels

  • Cross-specialty collaboration

This course is planned and organized by the University of Minnesota, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Department. Contact Shelby Gill for additional information.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Apply advanced endoscopic techniques for the evaluation and management of complex pancreatobiliary disorders, including indeterminate biliary strictures and pancreatic duct disease..
  2. Optimize ERCP strategies in patients with altered gastrointestinal anatomy, including post-surgical and post-transplant settings..
  3. Integrate endoscopic and surgical perspectives in the management of chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic complications.
  4. Employ advanced hemostasis modalities for the management of acute and refractory gastrointestinal bleeding.
  5. Interpret and manage post-transplant biliary complications, including strictures and leaks, using endoscopic and multidisciplinary approaches.
  6. Apply evidence-based endoscopic approaches to Barrett’s esophagus, including diagnosis, risk stratification, and endoscopic eradication therapies.
  7. Incorporate principles of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for complex luminal neoplasia, including appropriate case selection and complication mitigation.
  8. Recognize the role of endoscopic bariatric therapies within multidisciplinary obesity care, including indications, modalities, and post-procedural considerations.
  9. Adopt best practices in training, procedural planning, documentation, and quality improvement to enhance safety, outcomes, and continuity of care in advanced endoscopy.
