Overview

This program is designed to update medical clinicians regarding recent ophthalmology research and clinical outcomes in the basic and clinical sciences, technology and surgery. The purpose of this is to update practicing ophthalmologists on the latest, clinically relevant advances in ophthalmology and to provide useful, evidence-based information on the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic disorders.

The course is planned and organized by the University of Minnesota Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Neurosciences. Contact Lori van der Merwe for more information.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Perform comprehensive pediatric eye examinations using appropriate techniques and tools.
  2. Identify when imaging is indicated in cases of acute acquired comitant esotropia.
  3. Compare outcomes ofaphakia versus intraocular lens implantation in infants with dense cataract.
  4. Evaluate indications and outcomes for stent versus balloon procedures in nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
  5. Integrate evidence-based modern amblyopia therapies into treatment plans.
  6. Correlate systemic diseases with pediatric ocular findings to guide holistic patient management.

Registration Policies:

  • On-site registration will be allowed as space permits. All on-site registrants must use their own device to submit their registration and payment by credit card via CE Portal (cash/check not accepted).

  • Registration through CE Portal is required even if attendance is free-of-charge.

  • Special needs, such as dietary restrictions, lactation room, etc., should be requested in advance. These requests cannot always be honored on site.

  • In the event you need to cancel your registration, the registration fee, less a $50 administrative fee, will be refunded if you notify us by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026. No refunds will be made after this date.
