This activity is planned and hosted by the University of Minnesota Department of Medicine.

Preventing, controlling and treating emerging infections have become an essential focus for clinicians, infection control and public health practitioners, and laboratorians. The 2021 conference will provide new insights and new approaches to controlling COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases. This continuing education conference in its 27th year, provides a forum for authoritative presentations and discussions on the epidemiology, prevention and control of infectious diseases


Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Understand and defuse vaccine hesitancy toward COVID-19 vaccines
  2. Discuss clinical challenges associated with COVID-19
  3. Describe the applications of CRISPR/Cas9 for treatment of infectious diseases
  4. Discuss mRNA vaccines under development

In support of improving patient care, University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Credit Designation Statements

American Medical Association (AMA)
The University of Minnesota, Interprofessional Continuing Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
This activity is awarded up to 5.25 ANCC contact hours.

Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
This activity is eligible for 5.25 ACPE contact hours. Pharmacists must ensure that their profile in CE Portal includes their NABP # and month and date of birth; this is the information OCPD will use to upload completion data to The Monitor®. OCPD will complete the upload within four weeks of the conclusion of the activity. Due to required limits on reporting data to the Monitor, failure to include this information may prevent your completion data from being uploaded to the Monitor.

American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science
PACE Credit for this event will be provided by the UMN Medical Laboratory Sciences Program using the ASCLS CE Organizer.

Other Healthcare Professionals
Other healthcare professionals who participate in this CE activity may submit their statement of participation to their appropriate accrediting organizations or state boards for consideration of credit. The participant is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your registration, the registration fee, less a $50 administrative fee, will be refunded if we receive a two-week notice prior to the activity. No refunds will be made after that.
